Our Story

Who we are as a business:
-A breakfast and burger pop up that does weekly pop ups in the LA area!
-We use only the best ingredients for our burgers— a tri blend of meat from Alexanders Prime Meats at Howie’s Market! With simple but quality ingredients, it’s why our burger got voted in the Top 16 of the Laist Cheeseburger Tournament! 🏆
-We also cater all types of events: weddings, birthdays (for kids, adults, pets), retirements, 5th grade graduations, housewarmings… you name it, Hap’s has been there!

And who is the man behind Hap’s?
Joey Harrison is a SGV born and raised boy who has always loved the art of food. He’s half Italian and contributes this love to his mom always being in the kitchen and having him help as much as possible. During the pandemic, he got a Blackstone flattop and started messing around with what he could make for his bubble of friends that would come over and watch baseball and basketball games outside. (Remember when the Lakers AND Dodgers won in the same year?! 🥲)

Just from watching different YouTube cooking videos and having a clear vision of what flavors would work together, the Simple Joe smash burger was born. Joey and his wife started Hap’s Burgers in their driveway, hosting their first friends and family pop up on February 20, 2021.

It’s grown from there and led Joey to quit his full time IT hospital job, and go all in on Hap’s. (And why “Hap’s”? It’s his dad’s nickname! He was always smiling growing up and so his friends called him “Happy” which got shortened to “Hap”).

He’s usually in the groove when he’s working pop ups and events, but give him a hello when you see him! We’re sure he’ll be Hap’s-y to see you
